This release includes procedurally-generated clouds, a revamped Lobby experience, smoother underwater rendering, direct time-of-day control, and a completely new lighting/texturing pipeline. This new pipeline enables sunnier days and darker nights, but you may notice that the day/night sky horizons have lost a bit of their expressiveness. We'll soon be reintroducing the full sunset horizon illumination system, and it will look better than ever.
This week's new features include a geology-aware infinite terrain biome blending system, fancier water and sunsets, smoother camera logic, and a number of performance optimizations related to resolution management and LOD-aware lighting/postprocessing effects. Each of these binaries were generated by our new automated build infrastructure, and are delivered to you on our new high-performance globally-distributed CDN. Download Beta 2:
