Preview 11 offers a change of pace. We took a step backwards, established some incredibly ambitious artistic and technical goals, and went heads-down for a few weeks. This release includes entirely new ocean, terrain, vegetation, and sky systems. We've also thrown in dozens of bugfixes, framerate optimizations, camera improvements, and a few other surprises. Please note that while you should see higher-than-ever framerates for all quality levels and platforms, this is the most technically demanding release to date and you may encounter the occasional graphical anomaly (especially in Freestyle). Also, the new GPU-accelerated cloud system is Windows-DX11-only at present.
Last week we shared a preview of Syn3h's next-gen terrain engine with an infinite underground tunnel system. This week is about cinema-quality graphics and entirely new environments. This week, we bring you a space station.
While you explore Valerius - an abandoned research facility orbiting an alien sun, Syn3h's new Quality Maximization System will be working behind the scenes to provide higher-than-ever framerates while ensuring the finest visual experience that your machine can support. Worlds now load faster, and initial generation spends less time in a blanked-out transition state. Infinite worlds are back for Xylia and Freestyle, and bots are now smart enough to back themselves out of corners. For your eyes only: Explore the infinite underground caverns of Lucidar, an early-stage glimpse of Syn3h's next-gen terrain system. Last week's orbital camera has also seen a number of refinements, including finer input locking control and a cinematic screenshot capture mode.
Syn3h's new notification and update manager will automatically remind you from inside the game when next week's release is available. Large numbers of active bots should now be more stable (thanks Juest), and Linux builds are back thanks to a bugfix by our friends at Unity! The bots aren't yet smart enough to steer away from walls when following you deep underground, but a dynamic pathfinding system is in the works. You may experience rendering glitches in this release, the new terrain engine is still being optimized. Freestyle and Xylia are also (temporarily) no longer infinite. Enjoy! |
